Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh,
North Carolina, on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a stage
writer and actor, while her mother, Sara Wood is an actress and acting coach.
Her brothers older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who
also have been actors. Evan and her brothers sometimes performed at Theatre In
The Park in Raleigh where her father started and where he serves as executive
director. When she was five, she auditioned for the role in Interview with the
Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). With her parents and brother Ira they
moved to Los Angeles in 1996. Since the time, she has seen success in
television series and movies on television, as well as feature films. Tracy
played her part in Practical Magic (1998) and S1m0ne (2002 the child of Al
Pacino). Holly Hunter followed with Thirteen (2004). Her role in the movie as
Tracy in "Thirteen" earned her an award. Golden Globes nomination for
Best Performance by an actor in the genre of Motion Picture: Drama and for a
Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actress
of Female Character in an Leading Role. She was the youngest actress nominated
for an award for a Leading Role award at the time. The role she played as Veda
Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred, Pierce (2011) brought her an Emmy
nomination and the Golden Globe award. The actress also received acclaim for
her powerful performance in the role of Stephanie her character, Mickey
Rourke's estranged daughter, in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008). She is
the daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Little sister to Ira David
Wood IV and Dana Wood. Dancer trained. She loves to dance and sing, as well as
rollblade and ride horses. She is a black belt in tae-kwon do. She has kept in
contact with the majority of her Once and Again (1999) castmates: Mischa
Barton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
